We have a buddy system in place within IV25 for people to help those in need on their street in the event of an emergency such as a flood or long power cut (or global pandemic!). We have phones, blankets and dried food stored in preparation.
We are looking for a small number of volunteers to be part of a new steering group for this important activity! Please contact Charles charles@dfgcommunity.com or see our website for more info.

Our Men's Shed has had a new extension which houses a cosy rest area for a brew and a blether, as well as the fully equipped wood workshop. Thanks to all our amazing volunteers for your hard work!

In June we held a special lunch for our wonderful volunteers as part of Volunteers' Week 2022 - who help out across our projects - from delivering food to helping at toddler groups, running our Board and cooking for 60 (!) - we are SO grateful for their help and couldn't run without them. It was so lovely to be back together again after such a long time, share stories and yummy food from Milk and Honey in Dornoch.
Thank you, fabulous volunteers!!
We have now finished the main build of our wonderful Men's Shed, right in the centre of Dornoch. We are currently in the process of plumbing in the bathroom and kitting out the extension which will become the Dornoch Ceramics Workshop.
The Men's Shed sits in the beautiful grounds of Oversteps Care Home, nestled in amongst the trees. This community cabin is open to everyone (not just men!) and no experience necessary. We were due to open just as Covid hit, so we have not got going with as much gusto as we would have liked - yet! The workshop is fully equipped with woodworking tools and machinery as well as a cleaner, comfier space for relaxing with a cuppa and sharing ideas about your next project. It's a great space to make friends, learn new skills and perhaps finally get round to that half-finished project you've been meaning to complete.
Due to Covid we are not running regular sessions yet, but if you'd like to come along for a tour or find out any more information, please contact Charles: charles@dfgcommunity.com.

Jen is now a trained Walk Leader and has been running buggy-friendly woodland walks for families in Camore Woods over the autumn. The walks are with Eilidh from the Care and Learning Alliance (CALA), who often brings Bookbug too for a wee sing song and some rhymes! The walks are free, last an hour or two (depending on how energetic we all feel and the weather) on a Monday morning and are a great chance to meet other families with wee ones. Tots can walk, come in the pram or sling. Join us for some fresh air and outdoor activities!
2022 dates to be announced.

We are delighted to have been able to help re-start Tuesday Tots Toddler Group which runs in Dornoch West Church Hall on Tuesday mornings 10-11.30am. We have oodles of toys, instruments, ride-on cars - as well as sensory play activities, crafts, song-time and snack. Ages 0-5 welcome, £1.50 per family (but please get in touch if that's a barrier).
Tuesday Tots is currently paused as the West Church Hall is closed for January 2022 to keep everyone safe with the new Omicron variant. Please keep an eye on our Facebook Page (search Tuesday Tots Dornoch) for the latest update.

We would love to hear from you

Unfortunately our Little Otters Project has now ended as our partners, Davochfin Farm told us in the spring that they were no longer able to host the project as too time consuming. It was innovative, risky and funded by Community Lottery Fund but Dornoch Firth Group showed it could be done. However, it appears, just recently, that the Farm has re-started a very similar project without us. We shall continue to develop new and inspiring community projects and shall pick our community partners more wisely in the future.
